1955 Jewel Travel Trailer for sale on BaT Auctions - sold for $30,333 on May 26, 2024 (Lot #148,396) | Bring a Trailer

This 1955 Jewel is a single-axle travel trailer that was acquired by the seller in 2011. A subsequent refurbishment in 2019 involved disassembling the trailer and replacing the axle, brakes, tires, subfloor, framing, electrical system, plumbing, window seals, and aluminum exterior, installing insulation, a ceiling vent, and a refrigerator, and refreshing the interior. The trailer is finished in turquoise and white, and the floor plan features a bed, a kitchenette, and a dinette with bench seating trimmed in gray cloth upholstery. Amenities include birch paneling, storage cabinets, vinyl flooring, curtains, a sink, a stove, and overhead lighting. This Jewel travel trailer is now offered with stabilizer jacks, a spare tire, hookup accessories, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The exterior was reskinned with white-finished aluminum panels with turquoise accents along the middle of the body. Additional work performed under current ownership included installing taillights and a rear bumper, refurbishing the screen door, and replacing the door handle, a window, and the window seals. The entry door has a diamond-pattern exterior panel, while the inner door features screen panels and a wood frame. Exterior details include bright trim, an equipment compartment, and aluminum rain deflectors over the door and windows. The seller notes a run in the paint as well as a ding in the body where the door has contacted the skin. The awning and outdoor accessories shown in the gallery photos are not included in the sale.

Steel wheels are fitted with polished hubcaps and are mounted with black wall tires. The trailer measures approximately 15′ long, and inlets for water and shore power connections are equipped. The axle, wheel bearings, tires, and electric brakes were replaced in 2019.

The interior was refurbished in 2019 with work including replacing the framing, subfloor, plumbing, electrical system, and countertops, refinishing the cabinets, converting the propane lamp to bulb illumination, reupholstering the dinette seats, and installing insulation, birch paneling, electrical outlets, a Fan-Tastic power-operated ceiling vent, curtains, and vinyl tile flooring. Lighting fixtures are mounted overhead, and the dinette features bench seating trimmed in gray cloth, a laminate tabletop with multi-color graphics, and windows on three sides. The decor shown in the gallery photos is not included in the sale.

The sleeping area features a mattress, three windows, a roll-up hammock above the bed, and a residential-style power outlet. A double-door wardrobe and a compartment under the bed provide additional storage. The adjacent kitchenette is outfitted with a laminate countertop, a Martha Washington four-burner propane stove with an oven, and a bright backsplash as well as a porcelain sink, a slide-out work surface, overhead cabinets, and under-cabinet drawers. The refrigerator was installed during the refurbishment, and per the seller it has been modified with a vintage-style door from an icebox that was removed from the trailer.

Dual propane tanks are secured to the tongue, which is equipped with safety chains and a crank-style jack.

Photos taken during various stages of refurbishment work are presented in the gallery.

A spare tire is included in the sale along with a set of four stabilizer jacks and hookup accessories for water and electricity.
